Sutherland lands overall at Blair
Blair Atholl, Scotland – May 29, 2016 – Craig Sutherland of Crieff, Scotland, took the aggregate trophy for overall success in the solo piping events at the annual Atholl Gathering, held on a spectacular sunny and warm day. The overall award was sponsored by Glenfiddich. Ben Duncan of Edinburgh had an excellent day, winning both Open light music events and placing second in the B-Grade Piobaireachd. The Open MSR result was determined after two heats were held and a final event. The aggregate was determined by piobaireachd and MSR results, with the tie with last year’s overall winner, Ben Duncan, decided on piobaireachd preference, even though Sutherland finished third in the A-Grade event and Duncan second in the B-Grade.
