Small triumphs at Pleasanton (update 2)
Pleasanton, California – September 6-7, 2015 – The move to have smaller Grade 1 bands compete at the annual Pleasanton Gathering & Games in northern California proved a success, and Dowco Triumph Street took both days of competition.
By invitation, Dowco Triumph Street of Vancouver, Greater Glasgow Police Scotland and the Los Angeles Scots competed at Pleasanton, but were limited to fielding only eight pipers, four snare drummers, two tenor drummers and a bass drummer. The organizers had in recent years struggled to attract or sponsor full top-grade bands that routinely field more than 20 pipers, 10 snare drummers and six tenor drummers.
