Sean McKeown wins Prairie Piping Invitational
Regina, Saskatchewan – May 17, 2019 – Sean McKeown of Toronto won the annual Prairie Piping Invitational at the Saskatchewan Highland Gathering and Celtic Festival. This year’s event was held in the Hotel Saskatchewan’s Regency Ballroom, and proved a popular venue with competitors, who loved playing in the century old ballroom. The audience of about 40 also got to vote for a favourite performance.
Competitors at the event perform an 8-10 minute medley, which must include the urlar of a piobaireachd and at least one tune composed by a Canadian. The event is sponsored by the City of Regina Pipe Band and Reelpipes.com.

Also playing were Andrea Boyd, Toronto, and Alex Rasmussen, Regina, and Raphael Mercier, Saskatoon, was also invited but had to withdraw because of an arm injury.
The event was judged by Jim McGillivray.
