Iain Speirs captures his fifth Silver Chanter
Dunvegan, Skye, Scotland – August 5, 2015 – Iain Speirs of Edinburgh was awarded the Silver Chanter for piobaireachd at the annual invitational event held at Dunvegan Castle in the Isle of Skye. Contestants are assigned a MacCrimmon tune to perform. Speirs played “Lament for MacLeod of Colbeck.”
Other playing were Callum Beaumont, Bo’ness, Scotland, “Lament for the Children”; Bill Geddes, Bridge of Allan, Scotland, “Lament for Donald Duaghal MacKay”; Stuart Liddell, Inveraray, Scotland, “Lament for Patrick Og MacCrimmon”; Roddy MacLeod, Glasgow, “The Earl of Ross’s March”; and Douglas Murray, Cupar, Scotland, “Lament for the Earl of Antrim.”
The event was judged by Iain Morrison.
