Boghall & Bathgate takes Cowal Championship
Dunoon, Scotland – August 25, 2012 – Boghall & Bathgate Caledonia won the 2012 Cowal Pipe Band Championship, taking their second major of the year. The band also won the drumming. The championship could be the final year of the classic event’s spot on the RSPBA’s list of majors. The 118-year-old Cowal Gathering, once the de facto World Championship, may cease as a championship due to building planned on the games site. Field Marshal Montgomery took the 2012 Champion of Champions title and Boghall won the overall drumming title of the year. Conditions at the Cowal were very wet and the Grade 2 bands playing for the march past were soaked. (Cover photo of Boghall & Bathgate from 2012 World’s.)
