Andrew Brodlie wins pipes|drums Magazine Cup at Edinburgh Local Mod
Edinburgh – April 2, 2011 – Andrew Brodlie of Troon, Scotland, was awarded the pipes|drums Magazine Cup for being the overall best solo piper in the 15 and Under category at the Edinburgh Local Mod. The keeper trophy was donated by pipes|drums to the competition after receiving an inquiry from organizers to gauge interest in supporting the event. The competitions were held at Liberton High School, a larger venue to accommodate increased interest. The Greentrax Cup was awarded by Greentrax Recordings owner Ian Green to the overall winner of the 18 and Under events, Calum Watson. pipes|drums also contributed complimentary one-year subscriptions to winners of each event.
“As a nonprofit, independent publication, we were delighted to assist this very worthy event,” said pipes|drums Magazine Editor Andrew Berthoff. “I’m thrilled that young Mr. Brodlie has, I’m told, a great future in piping, and congratulations to all prize-winners and particpants.”

Well done on supporting this event and congratulations to all the contestants including young mister Brodie. A really heartening thing was hearing the event moved to larger quarters due to increased interest. Good on all involved.
Nice to hear pipes|drums supported the event. Nice to hear it is a growing competition. But best of all to hear Andrew Brodlie brought a prize back to TROON!
