Windsor Police makes leadership changes

The Grade 2 Windsor Police Pipe Band have a new Pipe-Major and Leading-Drummer after James Stewart and Greg Dinsdale both stepped down from their posts due to other commitments. Stewart will remain with the band as a piper, and Dinsdale has decided not to stay.

The new pipe-major of the band is long-time member Bill Baird. The new leading-drummer is Michael Crawley.

James Stewart took over the pipe-majorship of the band after Barry Ewen suffered a debilitating stroke in 2003. Under Stewart and Dinsdale’s leadership, Windsor Police continued its success in competition in 2004, finishing second in Grade 2 at the North American Championships and fourth at the World Pipe Band Championships.

“The band is excited about the 2005 competition year and wishes Greg all the best on his future endeavours,” Stewart said. He added that Dinsdale left the band on excellent terms.

Stewart also provided an update on Barry Ewen’s progress, saying that “he is doing very well, and though he’s not playing in the band he still attends every practice.”
