Getting the tie right is always a challenge. The point of the front part of the tie should just slightly overlap the top of the kilt. This means that you will have to footer about with the knot to get it just right, as the accoutrement will be tied shorter than what a gentleman would wear with a suit. But by all means, avoid the tie being either too long or too short. There should never be a gap of shirt showing.; nor should the thing hang lower than your buckle. Never, ever tuck it into your kilt.
