The Piping Wedding of the New Millennium: pipes|drums has the photos first!
What has been described as “the piping wedding of the new millennium” took place on September 30, 2006, when two of the world’s top solo pipers, Margaret Houlihan and Alastair Dunn, tied the drone cords in the bride’s home town of Cullen, County Cork, Republic of Ireland.

The ceremony was followed by a reception in Killarney, County Kerry, where Gordon Walker provided riveting entertainment later that night. After an intense practice chanter session going over the 2007 set tunes, the newlyweds flew to Cyprus for a two-week honeymoon.
Margaret Houlihan won the A-Grade Strathspey & Reel at the Argyllshire Gathering in 2003, the first female piper in history to win one of solo piping’s premier prizes. She works at the National Piping Centre in Glasgow. Alastair Dunn most recently won the 2006 Highland Society of London Gold Medal at the Northern Meeting, and was interim Pipe-Major of the Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band in 2004 while P-M Richard Parkes recovered from illness.

They look just lovely, and hope they have a long and happy life together. I think the public deserves to know: was Margaret wearing brogues?
Re the newlyweds. Would you expect some reaction if their children turned out to be drummers!
