Peel Regional Police Pipe Band Contributes to September 11 Memorial Events

The Peel Regional Police Pipe Band of Brampton, Ontario, travelled to New York City for the memorial ceremonies during the week marking the second anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

The band marched in a parade through the city that concluded at the New York Police Department memorial wall in Lower Manhattan on September 5. They also performed at and were invited to lead the NYPD’s Drums and Memorial Concert at Carnegie Hall, which also featured members of the Ottawa-Carlton Police Pipe Band.

“The spirit of brotherhood is truly universal and demonstrates that friendship and camaraderie can be fostered and advanced even in the aftermath of the most tragic of circumstances,” said Peel Regional Police Chief Noel Catney. “The countless acts of heroism, the personal sacrifices and the individual lives that were lost will never be forgotten. We are proud to show our support and be part of the memorial service.”
