PPBSO acknowledges mistake in Grade 2 result at Maxville
The Pipers & Pipe Band Society of Ontario (PPBSO) uncovered a clerical error that caused the organization to award the overall Grade 2 drumming trophy at the North American Chmpionships at Maxville to the wrong band.
The Tulach Ard Pipe Band of Boston, Massachusetts, was announced the winner of the prize at the event, but the Glengarry Pipe Band of Maxville, Ontario, actually gained the most points.
“Due to a clerical error, the PPBSO inadvertently awarded the Grade 2 drumming prize at the North American Championships to the wrong band,” said PPBSO president Bob Allen. “The Glengarry Pipe Band should have been awarded the trophy at the closing ceremony. I take full responsibility for the mistake, and I apologize to both Tulach Ard and Glengarry for the error.”
