Mitchell Wins Toronto Amateur Knockout
Toronto – March 17, 2003 – On the first true spring day after a miserably cold Toronto winter, the Grade 1&2 section of the Toronto Amateur Knockout Competition was won by Matthew Mitchell, whose medley was chosen ahead of defending champion Kirsten Campbell.
In the Grade 3&4 section, Michael Stockermanns’ “John MacColl’s March to Kilbowie Cottage” won against a strong field.
Six pipers played a Hornpipe & Jig in the first round of the Grade 1&2 contest, from which three went through to the medley final. The Grade 3&4 event also had six entered.

Also competing were Josh Kelly, Andrew Gibson, and Robert Cairns.

Also competing were Erika Kelly, Kelsey Symington and Mitchell Taylor.
The judges for the events, Rob Crabtree and Andrew Berthoff, each mentioned the overall high standard and promising future for Ontario solo piping in their post-event remarks.
