Grade 1 drumming result announced incorrectly at World’s

The best drumming trophy for the Grade 1 March, Strathspey & Reel contest was awarded at the World Pipe Band Championships at Glasgow Green yesterday to the wrong band. The prize was announced as going to House of Edgar-Shotts & Dykehead, when it should have gone to the Strathclyde Police.

The discrepancy did not affect the overall drumming prize, which went to House of Edgar-Shotts & Dykehead.

Similar administrative errors at the World’s have happened before. Last year the seventh and eighth overall placings were changed after the contest when an error was noticed. Drumming results have also been announced incorrectly.
