Glasgow’s Baron of Lee Pipe Band reforms

The Baron of Lee Pipe Band of Glasgow has reformed its ranks and
plans to resume competing in Grade 2 after a two-year hiatus due to
a lack of drummers.

Since 2002 the band has stayed together for non-competition
performances, and has recently added Derek Craig, formerly of the
Phoenix-Honda Glasgow-Skye Pipe Band, as its leading-drummer, who
reportedly has brought with him eight snare-drummers, five tenors
and a bass.

Baron of Lee previously held practices in Carluke, Scotland, but
will now hold meetings near the centre of Glasgow.

The pipe band is actually sponsored by the 35th Baron of Lee of
Lanarkshire. The 34th, Baron Leslie Peter, died in May 2002, adding
further uncertainty to the band. The new Baron has stated his
commitment to his support of the band.

The Baron of Lee Pipe Band is led by Pipe-Major David
Ogilvie.
