First Outdoor Contest Won By Boghall & Bathgate
Dunbar, Scotland – May 12, 2001 –Boghall & Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band started the 2001 season with a bang by winning the year’s first outdoor event here today against slight competition.
The weather was sunny but windy, and only two other bands played in Grade 1 – Dysart & Dundonald and Lothian & Borders Police. The contest marked the latter band’s return to Grade 1 after a year’s relegation in Grade 2.
In Grade 2, Polkemmet Pipe Band won with only ten pipers playing.
