Drumming for Drinks goes west with April event
The highly popular Drumming for Drinks anything-goes freestyle pipe band percussion competition that has become a key event in Glasgow during the week preceding the World Pipe Band Championships, will be carried over the Atlantic in an additional contest in London, Ontario, April 10-11.
The contest will be part of the Innovation pipe band drumming workshop, led by drummers Jim Kilpatrick, Tyler Fry and Scott Currie. Innovation was held in London in 2008, and the 2010 version is being sponsored by the Western Branch of the Pipers & Pipe Band Society of Ontario. The event is also part of the Kiwanis Music Festival of London.
The Innovation workshop events will take place at the Central Secondary School in London, with Drumming for Drinks scheduled for the evening of April 10th at the Mocha Shriner Centre in London.
“[Drumming for Drinks] will bring together some of the finest bass, snare and tenor drummers around to compete for the biggest prizes available in pipe band solo competition,” Fry said.
The group has secured special rates at the Residence Inn by Marriott in London, and registration for the workshop will begin this week.
Go on Jim, Ty and Scott. Wish you the best of the success, as usual. Diego Puron
