D-M Roddy MacLean

Drum-Major Roddy MacLean, a prominent personality in the Ontario pipe band scene, died on November 8 of natural causes.

For decades, MacLean played a familiar role at the head of massed bands in Ontario. He was also an accomplished competitor in drum-major events, and went on to judge many of those contests.

Roddy MacLean leaves several grandchildren who are involved with piping and drumming, including tenor drummer Michelle Mclean, side drummer Craig Mercer, piper Gord Wallace, bass drummer Kevin Mckeown, and Sean Mckeown, the Pipe-Sergeant of the Toronto Police Pipe Band.
