British Champions 2001: Shotts & Dykehead
Banbridge, Northern Ireland – May 19, 2001 – The British Pipe Band Championships held here today were won by Shotts & Dykehead Caledonia of Shotts, Scotland. Local favourites Field Marshal Montgomery finished second, and Boghall & Bathgate Caledonia ended up third.
Only eleven bands were entered for the Grade 1 contest, largely due to the lateness of securing a venue for the event. The competition was also the first for McNaughton’s Vale of Atholl after the departure over the winter of long-time Pipe Major Ian Duncan. The band’s new Pipe Major is Andrew Renwick.
