BC Pipers’ Knockout Goes To Bonar
The BC Pipers’ Association held its Annual Dinner and Knockout Final at the Scottish Cultural Centre in Vancouver on Friday, and Andrew Bonar of North Vancouver emerged from the final group of four as this season’s winner.
The four finalists were Bonar, Alan Bevan, Christian Hryniw, and Allan Walters. These four players survived two previous rounds of the knockout event, and all four were in fine shape for the final. Ultimately, the judges picked Bonar the winner, and Bevan the runner up. All four players entertained with a variety of selection styles and approaches.
The piping event was followed with the final of the drumming knockout, and in this event Duncan Millar prevailed over fellow SFU player Cameron Bullis. Both players entertained with their selections.
Part of the Annual Dinner included a presentation of a BC Pipers Life Membership to Angus MacPherson. MacPherson is the current Pipe-Major of the Maple Ridge Pipe Band, and has been President of the BC Pipers, Newsletter editor, and on the Board for many years.
