BC Pipers Annual Gathering

Vancouver – March 30, 2002 – The 70th BC Pipers Association Annual Gathering took place in a new venue, Simon Fraser University, over the final weekend in March. Over 200 competitors took part in the event, and the three Professional piping contests were won by three separate players.

The event is the longest-running competition in western Canada, and is seen as the year’s most important event in that area. But for the second straight year, there was no Grade 1 mini-band contest. Only four Grade 2 mini-bands were entered in that event, and only one competitor, Reid Maxwell, took part in the Professional solo drumming.
