Atholl & Breadalbane Gathering cancelled due to flooding

The annual Atholl & Breadalbane Gathering in Aberfeldy, Scotland, has been cancelled because of flooding from the River Tay. The event had been scheduled for August 14.

The Highland games was to have fallen on the same day as the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, which has not so far been impacted by Scotland’s unusually wet summer.

Atholl & Breadalbane Gathering organizers said that, with the exception of the event not going on during war years, the cancellation of the games is the first in more than 100 years.
