2009 Set Tunes announced by Piobaireachd Society
The Piobaireachd Society has revealed the tunes set for the major competitions in 2009, and the lists include mostly well known pieces of ceol mor that have appeared frequently over the years, many being popular with established competitors. It was also revealed by the Northern Meeting that judges for its 2008 competitions will include Canadians Jim McGillivray and Bill Livingstone, with McGillivray on the bench of the Clasp and A-Grade March, Strathspey & Reel and Livingstone being part of the panels for the Silver Medal and B-Grade Strathspey & Reel. The Piobaireachd Society indicated that a revised version of “The MacDonalds’ Salute” will be published soon to replace the erroneous existing one. Senior competitors submit six tunes and play one.

Just as a point to note, upon looking at the 2009 Set Tunes on the P.S. website, Lament for the Children is also on the Senior Tune list for 2009.
