The Grade 4A Bready Ulster Scots Pipe Band of Northern Ireland sadly lost piper Andrew Duncan last November to dilated cardiomyopathy, but the group will continue to remember and memorialize him fondly while also drawing attention to the British Heart Foundation after the dedication of the their bass drum in Duncan’s honour.

[Photo: Darren Milligan]The band made an official dedication at the All-Ireland Championships in Omagh, Northern Ireland, on July 4th, where Duncan’s wife, Suzanne; children Aimee and Robbie; mother Nan; sisters, nieces and a nephew gathered for the occasion.
“Andrew was a very talented piper and much-loved member of the band,” band organizer Bertie Campbell said. “We feel we owe it to his memory to stand up and support the excellent work of the British Heart Foundation, especially since it was an organization so close to Andrew.”

[Photo: Darren Milligan]During his last months, Andrew Duncan worked tirelessly to heighten awareness of and donations for organ donation and the British Heart Foundation, raising more than £2,000 before dying during his own marathon walk around the Peace Bridge and Craigavon Bridge in Omagh.
The band will continue to work with Duncan’s family for the causes that the late Andrew Duncan fought for.
