New L&B to make first appearance at Eagle Pipers

The Lothian & Borders Police Pipe Band will make its first appearance as a band under the leadership of new Pipe-Major Ian Duncan at a somewhat unlikely venue: the monthly meeting of the recently reformed Eagle Pipers Society.

A smaller version of the full band will perform at the Eagle Pipers’ meeting on Tuesday, April 13th, in Edinburgh. Since Duncan joined in September 2009, succeeding David Barnes, the band has expanded its numbers, particularly in the pipe section. Barnes subsequently joined House of Edgar-Shotts & Dykehead.

Since restarting the Eagle Pipers Society, the group’s membership has grown to more than 150 after being dormant as an organization for more than 25 years.

The group will reportedly hold one of its meetings in Ottawa in early May, with all attending joining as members when Eagle Pipers President Colin MacLellan travels to Canada to be a judge at the William Livingstone Sr. Invitational Solo Piping Competition in Hamilton, Ontario.
