First Edinburgh performance for NYPBoS

The band, which comprises members ages 10 to 25, will debut a new show entitled “The Dragon’s Lair,” described by NYPB Director Alisdair McLaren as a “fusion” of pipe, drums, and electronic instruments.
“This concert will showcase the phenomenal talent of some of Scotland’s most exciting young performers,” McLaren said in a release. “The Dragon’s Lair is a brand new concert for the band incorporating a fantastic blend of traditional and contemporary music. The fusion of pipes and drums with electric guitar, keyboard synthesizer, stand up bass, fiddle and drum kit pushes the boundaries of the stereotypical pipe band concert making the band possibly one of the most entertaining concert bands to see.”
The NYPB has had a busy 2009, performing in concerts throughout Scotland and continental Europe. The band will perform at the Celtic Connections music festival in Glasgow in January with Carlos Nunez, who they performed with in Mexico at the Chihuahua Festival in 2007.
Tickets are priced at £15 and £10, and are available directly from the Usher Hall in-person or online.
