Adrian Cramb new Vale of Atholl Pipe-Major

Andy Renwick has resigned as Pipe-Major of the Grade 1 Vale of Atholl Pipe Band and his successor is long-serving member and former Pipe-Sergeant Adrian Cramb.

 

Renwick had been the leader of the band since 2001. According to the band, he decided to step down due to “work/life balance,” and Renwick will reportedly remain with the band.

 

Cramb has played with the Vale since 1984 and was appointed Pipe-Sergeant when Renwick took over from Ian Duncan, who resigned after the 2000 season.

 

After promising results in the 2006 and ’07 seasons, Vale of Atholl had what most considered to be a disappointing year, including being disqualified at the British Championships for playing the wrong MSR. The band missed pre-qualifying for the Final of the World’s, but qualified on the day and ultimately placed ninth at the event.

 

The move was officially made after the last competition of the season at Pitlochry, Scotland, the band’s hometown.

 

The band pointed out that it has always looked to its own pipe section when it has made a change of pipe-major.
