The plot thickens!!! It will be an exciting world championships with maybe a true five or six band race for the top for the first time in 15 years. I predict the winner will get the prize coming up the middle” and not winning any firsts from a judge.”
Why is Gordon Parkes judging? He judges and FM win the drumming for the first time in a while… it looks sketchy. Gordon should recuse himself in these situations.
I think that it is very unfair to discredit Gordon’s judging. All judges hear small mistakes , roughnesses etc close into a band that the crowd don’t hear. It is also very hard to judge bands , so I think that people shouldn’t knock the judges just because they want to find biase being involved . Gordon is a gentleman with a lot of experience and we as pipers and drummers should learn to trust that this was this judges’s opinion of the performance on the day. There are too many ‘armchair quarterbacks’ who have never made it to the top level who slam judges and P/M’s all the time. Please enjoy the musical performances for what they are – music.
Gordon is judgeing because its within the rules. If you don’t like it, go the annual general meeting and stand up and try to get a rule passed that prevents it. The association will do what the members tell it to do. If the members don’t want it then the members won’t get it. Do the membership want a rule that says no family judgeing family?
