James Murray moves earth with Quaich

Armadale, Skye, Scotland – June 9, 2007 – James Murray of Fife won the Clan Donald Quaich, an invitational piobaireachd competition in Skye sponsored by the Clan Donald Association.

This year’s event was the 25th anniversary for the contest, and all four invitees were previous winners of the trophy, a traditional Celtic quaich.

Competitors must play a tune in a Donald MacDonald setting. James Murray played “The Groat.”

Other competitors were Niall Matheson, Inverness, Scotland, who played “The MacLeans’ March”; Colin MacLellan, Edinburgh, “Cillie Chriosd”; and Robert Watt, Belfast, “Too Long In This Condition.”

The contest was judged by Iain MacFadyen.
