Field Marshal officially hooks up with Premier
2006 World Pipe Band Champions Field Marshal Montgomery has officially struck a deal with Premier Percussion to use Premier drums. The band debuted its new instruments at its January 27 concert at Celtic Connections, but released news of its formal agreement to pipes|drums first.
The five-time World’s winners had previously played Pearl drums until deciding to drop them in favour of Premier.
The band’s new drums feature a custom “Montgomery Blue” sparkle colour. Field Marshal will play Premier HTS700 snares and Hosbilt bass and tenor drums. The new colour was developed in partnership with Gaelic Themes and R.G. Hardie & Co. Bagpipe Makers.
While Leading-Drummer Keith Orr’s section did not finish lower than fourth overall in 2006, the band failed to win a championship at an RSPBA major. It finished second twice playing Pearl drums.
Specific terms of the agreement with Premier were not disclosed.

I’m still confused by this. Nothing wrong with the tone of the Pearls. Must be more to this than we know.
I think it will be really great to hear the difference in ensemble sound for FMM. Woody, Haggis and company will most definitely sound different than they ever have before. Best of Luck and play on! Hossman
