Updated: Sylvain Hamon wins first Gordon Duncan Memorial

Glasgow – January 28, 2007 – Sylvain Hamon of Brittany was the overall winner of the first Gordon Duncan Memorial Solo Piping Competition, held at the Holiday Inn-City West in Glasgow here today.

Hamon, a member of Bagad Cap Caval, was first in the Breton section and second in both the Scottish Irish events. Alen Tully of Dublin was the overall runner-up, taking the Irish event, and Andrew Carlisle of Northern Ireland finished third, winning the Scottish section. Each player competed in Scottish, Irish and Breton domains.

Also competing was Simon McKerrell, Glasgow and Charles Noin, Brittany. Stuart Cassells of Falkirk, Scotland, could not attend.

The contest was part of the Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow.
