LA Scots make another change; Baughman new L-D
The Grade 1 Los Angeles Scots Pipe Band have appointed its third leading-drummer in as many years with Richard Baughman taking over the role from Andy Brubaker, who took the lead-tip position almost one year to the day.
Baughman was a member of the House of Edgar-Shotts & Dykehead Pipe Band in 2006, and has also played with the Toronto Police Pipe Band. He was leading-drummer of the Grade 2 Saffron United Pipe Band from 2002 to 2005.
LA Scots’ band president Scott MacDonald said, “Andy Brubaker has done an incredible job leading the drum corps this past year. Andy is fully in support of the change and we both agreed that it was an opportunity to upgrade the band musically if we offered the position to Richard.”
Brubaker will reportedly stay with the band.
The band played in only a handful of contests in 2006, including the North American Championships at Maxville, Ontario, where they finished third overall in Grade 1.
Baughman is also a graduate of the Juilliard School of Music and is working towards a PhD in Music at the University of Southern California
MacDonald indicated that the band plans to travel to compete in Scotland in 2007The LA Scots are looking forward to competing more in 2007.
