Nine invited amateur pipers set for Sherriff
The annual George Sherriff Amateur Invitational Solo Piping Championship is set for Saturday, November 19, at the Officers’ Mess of the James Street Armoury in Hamilton, Ontario.
The event is one of the world’s major amateur contests. Nine pipers from across North America have accepted their invitation. Potential competitors are nominated by their home associations.
The big prize this year for the overall winner is a full set of engraved pipes from McCallum Bagpipes of Kilmarnock, Scotland.
Competitors at this year’s George Sherriff Invitational:
The day begins with the 6/8 March event at 10 a.m. The Piobaireachd starts at 1:30 p.m. and the March, Strathspey & Reel is at 7:30 p.m.
Judges for all events are Peter Aumonier, Nancy Tunnicliffe, and John Wilson.
