Kilpatrick, Fry, Fisher, Colquhoun to teach at Kincardine drumming school

A drumming workshop featuring well-known players Jim Kilpatrick, Tyler Fry, John Fisher, and Craig Colquhoun will be held December 3 and 4 in Kincardine, Ontario.

“Kincardine Drums 05” is a two-day workshop that brings together the four household names in the pipe band world for the first time in Canada. The event will be held at the Bruce Training Center at the nuclear power plant in Bruce Township and is priced at $50 per day for side-, tenor-, and bass-drummers of all abilities.

The event is being organized by Craig Colquhoun, who says, “This is the dream-team of drum teaching. Jim, John, Tyler and I worked together for years at the winter school in Seattle, and that association led to John playing in the 78th Fraser Highlanders after a 15-year lay-off, and also fostered Tyler to go and play in House of Edgar-Shotts & Dykehead. This is the only opportunity this year to have the four of us together in one school.”

Kilpatrick, who has won the World Solo Drumming Championship 15 times and has more than 100 major drumming championships to his name, has taught for the past two years in June at a school in Kingston, Ontario. He was awarded an MBE in 2003 for services to pipe band drumming.
