2006 New Zealand and Australian Championships to coincide again

The pipe band championships for both Australia and New Zealand are once again scheduled within a week of each other in 2006, with an objective being to make the journey more attractive to bands from the northern hemisphere.

The Australian Championships will be held in Melbourne on Sunday, March 5, and the New Zealand Championships will take place March 10-12.

A sources close to the events has stated that the contests hope to develop a panel of internationally recognized judges.

The contests were held a week apart in 2004 for the first time. The Australian Championships take place every two years.
