Allen to stay on as PPBSO President
Bob Allen, the popular and charismatic leader of the Pipers & Pipe Band Society of Ontario (PPBSO), has changed his mind about leaving the presidency half-way through his two-year term. Allen will stay on as president until the PPBSO’s AGM in November 2005.
“After a lot of soul-searching on my part, and considering the number of unresolved items still on the table, I’ve come to the conclusion that perhaps now would be an inopportune time for me to step down as president,” Allen says. “Consequently, I’ve decided to serve my full term, which expires in 2005.”
The other three PPBSO executive positions – Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary – will be filled at the organization’s AGM on Saturday, November 6, at Currie Hall, Royal Military College, Kingston, Ontario. The meeting starts at 11 a.m.
The terms of Vice-President Charlie MacDonald and Secretary Evelyn Hazzard are up at the meeting, and Treasurer Gary Moore, citing time commitments, resigned earlier in October, half-way through his term. Hazzard has made it clear that she will not seek re-election.
In other PPBSO news, Andrew Berthoff has been elected Chair of the organization’s Music Board, taking over for Ed Neigh who served for three years.
