Boghall & Bathgate heading to Pushkin Square

Scotland’s Boghall & Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band will attend the eighth annual Lipetsk Folk & Arts Festival in Lipetsk, Russia, this weekend, part of a cultural delegation from the band’s home-base in West Lothian, Scotland.

Lipetsk is about 300 miles south of Moscow, and the band will be performing in both concerts and parades, and then move on the play in Pushkin Square (formerly Red Square), Moscow.

According to band sources, “Given the recent troubles in Russia, the organizers of the festival have made no secret that they are very much looking forward to hearing a visiting pipe band from Scotland. The band will also be promoting its recently released live recording while in Russia.”

The Strathclyde Police, British Caledonian Airways, Shotts & Dykehead, Edinburgh City Police, the 1st Batallion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders have all performed in Moscow since the 1950s.
