Beaumont the big winner at Scottish Junior Solo Piping Championships
Carnoustie, Scotland – September 18, 2004 – Calum Beaumont of Bo’ness, Scotland, was the top prize-winner at this year’s Junior Solo Piping Championships, and for his efforts Beaumont recieves an all-expenses-paid trip to the Balmoral School of Piping in the United States, donated by James McIntosh of Pittsburgh and Paul Grant of Carnoustie.
The contest, organizaed annually by the Practical Pipers Society, 185 pipers competed for prizes in numerous categories. Competitors from Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Canada participated in the event. Other prizes included a set of pipes from R.T. Shepherd & Son and lessons at the National Piping Centre in Glasgow.
