Morpeth Chantry Bagpipe Museum “under threat”

The Chantry Bagpipe Museum in Morpeth, England, is reportedly threatened by budget cuts that could result in the facility being moved or closed altogether.

Castle Morpeth Borough Council, which currently funds the museum, is deciding whether or not to continue subsidizing the museum, which is located in a 13th century stone chapel that was restored in 1738.

The museum houses more than 100 sets of pipes from all over the world, including a set of Highland pipes made by Donald MacDonald around 1800.

The Castle Morpeth Borough Council has requested input to help them decide the museum’s fate.
