Scottish Outdoor Pipe Band Season Starts Saturday With Dunbar
Six Grade 1 bands are entered to compete at Dunbar, the traditional opening day for the outdoor competition season for Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association events.
Boghall & Bathgate, David Urquhart Travel, Dysart & Dundonald, Lothian & Borders Police, Strathclyde Police, and Vale of Atholl are scheduled to play in Grade 1, while 13 bands are entered in Grade 2.
In 2002, the Strathclyde Police started its season under new Pipe-Major James Wark with wins at both Dunbar and Gourock, which this year is scheduled for Sunday, May 11.
Dunbar is on the east coast of Scotland, about 20 miles southeast of Edinburgh. Weather forecast for Saturday for the area is mainly cloudy with a high of 10 degrees.
