2002 Gold Medallists

Bruce Gandy of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Iain Speirs of Edinburgh stand together as winners of the 2002 Highland Society of London Gold Medals at, respectively, the Northern Meeting at Inverness and the Argyllshire Gathering at Oban. Gandy played “The Rout of Glenfruin” to win the Inverness contest, while Speirs played “The King’s Taxes” at Oban. Both pipers now are eligible to compete in both the Senior Piobaireachd and Clasp events in the future, and each receives an invitation to compete at the Glenfiddich Piping Championships at Blair Atholl, Scotland, on October 26th.
