Spalding Enjoys Excellent Day at Aberfeldy

Aberfeldy, Scotland – August 10, 2002 – Scottish solo pipers not involved with the World Pipe Band Championships enjoyed the Atholl & Breadalbane Gathering at Victoria Park here. Though the entry was relatively small, the standard was high. Anne Spalding of Broughty Ferry had a solid outing, as did Gold Medallist Arthur Gillies of Killchrenan, who was the winner of the MacDougall Cup for best overall results.

Spalding is famous in piping history for, along with Patricia Henderson (nee Innes), breaking through the gender barrier at the Argyllshire Gathering and Northern Meeting in 1976.
