Greg Wilson Wins Silver Chanter
Dunvegan, Skye, Scotland – August 7, 2002 – Greg Wilson of New Zealand won his third consecutive Silver Chanter here at the former MacCrimmon stomping grounds of Dunvegan Castle.
Wilson was assigned “Lament for MacSwan of Roaig” to play for judge Iain Morrison of Lewis who filled in for an indisposed John McAskill.
Also invited to the contest were Stuart Shedden, Glasgow; Duncan MacGillivray, Tain; Roddy Macleod, Glasgow; and Jack Lee, British Columbia.
The event calls for five pipers to play a single piobaireachd attributed to or associated with the MacCrimmon piping family of Skye.
