Toronto Police Win Barrie
Barrie, Ontario – June 22, 2002 – The Toronto Police Pipe Band won the second PPBSO Champion Supreme event here today against the Peel Regional Police. The 78th Fraser Highlanders had entered the contest, but did not play.
The Windsor Police won Grade 2, thus continuing their streak of wins in 2002.
Bruce Gandy of Halifax, Nova Scotia, visiting Ontario for a piping school, dominated the Professional solo piping by taking three first prizes, including the piobaireachd event. Only seven pipers took part. Conditions were overcast, hot and humid, but rain was only sporadically light.
